Prayer

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.
Ephesians 6:17-18
We believe prayer is a wonderful and priceless gift from God, that is not only a powerful tool for the believer, but a marvellous privilege too.
Because of God's grace towards us, through prayer we are able to lift up all our fears, needs, concerns, and those of others too, that He may step into those situations by His great power. In this humility, the power of God is released into our lives and those around us, as we seek to become nothing before Him, that He may be everything.
Prayer also opens up intimate communication with the Lord too, and through an intimate and devout prayer life, the believer will hear the voice of the Lord for their instruction and guidance. But in the light of this subject we wish to highlight something clearly.
Contrary to the popular practice of listening for the "still small voice" of the Spirit, and then immediately accepting this to be the actual voice of the Holy Spirit speaking Himself. We urge great caution to be taken by the believer, that every spirit is tested against the Word of God.
Whenever the Holy Spirit offers us divine guidance from within in such a way, He is not offended that we test what we hear by the Word of God, and in fact commands us to do so.
"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1
When God wishes to communicate His will to us, He will always bring it back to His revealed Word in Scripture, as the only way in which we can truly discern that which is the Truth. Do not blindly accept that every voice heard in the spirit is of God, for the Word clearly warns us that Satan is fully able to disguise himself as an angel of light.
